The very first seats - the front row, literally - in Darlington Raceway's new Turn 1 grandstand have been installed. Construction remains right on schedule and track officials expect every seat to be filled when the green flag waves on May 13 to begin the Dodge Charger 500. The new grandstand will seat approximately 6,200 fans and is Darlington Raceway's first expansion project since the completion of the Pearson Tower in 1998.
Seating is still available for the Dodge Charger 500 on Saturday evening, May 13. Greg Biffle is the defending champion. Good seats are also available for the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 NASCAR Busch Series race on Friday evening, May 12. Friday's activities include practice and qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch series, followed by the DHP 200 at 8:30 p.m. Matt Kenseth won the race in 2005.
