Darlington Raceway hires Dennis Worden as PR Director
Darlington Raceway President Chris Browning announced the hiring of Dennis Worden as the track’s Director of Public Relations. Worden begins his position immediately and will be responsible for coordinating all media relations efforts for NASCAR’s original superspeedway.
Worden spent the last 6 ½ years as the manager of public relations for Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich. He coordinated the media relations efforts for MIS, as well as maintaining the track’s website and its video and photography needs, among other duties. Overall, he brings nearly 12 years of media relations experience to Darlington Raceway with past stops at Hillsdale College (Mich.), Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. and the University of Texas in Austin.
“We’re very excited to have Dennis Worden join the Darlington Raceway family,” Browning said. “Dennis brings a great deal of media relations experience to our racetrack from Michigan and we welcome him and his family to the area.”
Worden, a native of Concord, Mich., earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich. in 1999. He is married to his wife, Renea, and they have two children, Jeffrey (10) and Hailey (8).
“This is a tremendous opportunity for me to work at such a historic racing facility like Darlington Raceway and I look forward to working with President Chris Browning and the entire staff here. My family and I are thrilled to be joining the local community,” Worden said.
In addition to the hiring of Worden, Browning has also announced the promotion of Sarah Hill as the track’s new Consumer Marketing Coordinator. Hill will serve in the track’s public relations department overseeing all social media initiatives and coordinating marketing and e-mail campaigns, among other duties.
Hill was born and raised in Darlington, S.C. where she graduated from Mayo High School in 2004. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Limestone College in 2008.
