Darlington Raceway Goes Short Track Racing With Jordan Anderson
DARLINGTON, S.C. (March 11, 2013) – The 64th annual Bojangles’ Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway is just 61 days away and the anticipation for the historic race at the track known to be Too Tough To Tame is growing.
To build on the excitement surrounding the race, officials from Darlington Raceway announced today that the track has partnered with up and coming South Carolina driver Jordan Anderson to sponsor the #2 Coulter Motorsports Super Late Model in the Pro All Star Series Inaugural Battle at the Beach 150 on Saturday, March 16 at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
“Jordan is a talented driver from our home state of South Carolina and we’re excited to partner with him and Myrtle Beach Speedway,” Darlington Raceway president Chris Browning said. “This is a great way for us to support our core fan base as well as the local racers and tracks that bring so much excitement to our sport on a weekly basis.”
In addition to sponsoring Anderson, Darlington will also be offering Myrtle Beach Speedway fans a special deal. Fans can visit the Darlington Raceway display at Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 16 or March 22 and receive information that will give them $10 off the purchase of a ticket for the Bojangles’ Southern 500.
Darlington Raceway representatives will be on-site during the Battle at the Beach 150 to talk with fans and answer questions about experiencing a race weekend at Darlington and the famed Bojangles’ Southern 500. Anderson, who hails from Forest Acres, South Carolina, had a very successful 2012 racing season that included 16 wins and 9 poles in two different series.
“I grew up going to races at Darlington, and saw my first NASCAR race there. To have an opportunity to represent such a historic racetrack like Darlington Raceway, and an event like the Bojangles’ Southern 500, is a great honor,” said Anderson. “It really has been a blessing in how this has all come together. We have all the ingredients necessary for this to be a great success.”
Be sure to mark your calendar twice, for this weekend’s race at the Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 16 and for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at the Darlington Raceway on May 11. The Pro All Star Series will roll into Myrtle Beach Speedway on Friday for practice, with qualifying starting at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Battle at the Beach 150 is set to take the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
