Snowman's Run Comes to Darlington

Smokey and the Bandit

Darlington Raceway received a visit today, June 6, from the 'Snowman’s Run benefiting Wounded Warriors' group.

Snowman’s Run is so aptly named from the 1977 hit movie “Smokey and the Bandit” starring Burt Reynolds (Bandit) and Sally Field. Snowman was the character name of Bandit’s friend and fellow truck driver Cledus "Snowman" Snow (Jerry Reed), who drove the truck in the movie.

The group that visited the Raceway had over a dozen Pontiac Trans Am’s that were featured in the film, along with Snowman’s semi-truck that carried the payload from Texas to Georgia. The Trans Am group made several laps around the track Too Tough To Tame and toured the Darlington Raceway Museum and Gift Shop during their stop.
