“TURN 3 THEATER PRESENTED BY RACEWAY FORD & CHEVROLET” TO TAKE PLACE ON JULY 18
DARLINGTON, S.C. (July 17, 2014) – Turn 3 Theater Presented by Raceway Ford & Chevrolet, a free movie event, is scheduled for this Friday, July 18, at Darlington Raceway.
The movie was rescheduled from its original date on June 27 due to inclement weather. This time around, the weather is expected to be picture perfect. The movie will start at dusk in the track’s famed hospitality village.
“Unfortunately, we had to reschedule this event due to inclement weather in June, but we’re thrilled to offer another free event at the track. Turn 3 Theater is all about bringing out the family and enjoying the sights and sounds of the summer,” Darlington Raceway President Chip Wile said. “There will be plenty of family friendly activities for kids of all ages. None of this would have been possible without the support of Raceway Ford and Chevrolet. They, like Darlington Raceway, are committed to providing family friendly entertainment for people in and around the Pee Dee.”
The family-fun movie night will feature Pixar’s “Cars.” During the showing, the track will have the famous Hudson Hornet on display. The Hudson Hornet was the inspiration behind the character “Doc” in the original film, which was released in 2006.
A new experience has been added to the movie night. Guests will have the opportunity to soak Wile in a dunk tank ($5 for three attempts) with all proceeds benefiting the track’s 501(c)3 charitable arm, Darlington Shares. Wile is encouraging kids of all ages to participate in the activity.
“I graciously accept the challenge of getting dunked for charity. This will be fun experience for me and I hope everyone will participate! The wetter I get, the more money we raise for charity, which is great,” Wile said.
Turn 3 Theater Presented by Raceway Ford & Chevrolet will offer a variety of family activities throughout the evening.
Darlington Raceway will offer pace truck rides around the famed raceway for a $5 per person donation to Darlington Shares.
Guests may bring their own food, however, concessions will also be available with all proceeds benefiting the track’s charity. The local Papa John’s franchise will be on hand selling pizza by the slice and free popcorn will also be distributed to families before the feature presentation (one tub per family).
Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are permitted (no glass bottles).
Movie fans will need to enter the track at the Gate 39A tunnel entrance to the track, where they will be directed to the parking area just west of the hospitality village. The gates will open at 6 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk. The film will be featured on a big screen courtesy of the City of Hartsville.
