Lord Cares Food Donation

DARLINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA (Nov. 12, 2014) – With the generosity of its community members, Darlington Raceway collected thousands of non-perishable food items and monetary donations during the track’s second annual Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show last weekend.

The two day event generated over 3,000 non-perishable items and $2,000 in monetary donations. Guests received pace car rides with a donation of $10 or five non-perishable food items during the second year festival.

The food and monies will benefit over 200 local families through the food pantry, The Lord Cares of Darlington.

The donations were delivered to The Lord Cares on Wednesday, Nov. 12, with the help of the Darlington Raceway staff.

“We can’t thank our local community enough for donating at our Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show,” Chip Wile, President of Darlington Raceway, said. “All of their donations go back to the local community by way of The Lord Cares in Darlington. We are proud of our relationship with the Darlington community and strive to give back with each and every event we do at our beloved racetrack.”

“We appreciate Darlington Raceway’s support of The Lord Cares,” Kevin Cauley, President of the Board for The Lord Cares said. “We’ve built a great relationship with the track and they have impacted many local families with their generosity. It’s a wonderful partnership.”

During collection events the past two years, Darlington Raceway has generated over 8,000 non-perishable food items and over $10,000 in cash donations, which have supported area food banks.
