Darlington Raceway To Host NASCAR For 64th Consecutive Year In 2013

Darlington Raceway has announced that the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will return to the track Too Tough to Tame on Mother’s Day weekend, May 10-11, 2013. The 2013 Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 will mark the 64th consecutive year of NASCAR racing at the Lady in Black, dating back to 1950.

    Darlington's Williamson Park Receives Trees Due To Darlington Raceway Partnership

    A ceremonial tree planting took place at Williamson Park in Darlington, S.C. on Wednesday as part of a partnership with the City of Darlington, Darlington Raceway and the NASCAR Green Clean Air Tree Planting program. Williamson Park received 81 trees as part of the program. NASCAR Green and Darlington Raceway donated 10 trees for every green flag that was flown during last May’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500.

    Darlington Raceway Blood Drive Collects 218 Units of Blood on September 11

    Due to the gracious generosity of its fans and community members, the Darlington Raceway Blood Drive collected 218 units of blood during its annual event on 9-11. It was the largest single-day collection for the event in its seven-year history. The blood drive, which is the largest in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina, surpassed last year’s total by 72 units (146 units were collected in 2011), giving the American Red Cross a much-needed boost in donations during a time when the supply level is the lowest it has been in nearly 15 years.

    Need An Appointment? Openings Still Available For Darlington Raceway Blood Drive On Sept. 11

    For fans still thinking about donating blood at Darlington Raceway’s Blood Drive on Tuesday, Sept. 11, appointments are still available for the Pee Dee’s largest single-day collection event of the year. An appointment is encouraged to ensure participation in the 7th annual event by either signing up at www.redcrossblood.org, clicking on the Make an Appointment link and entering the sponsor code: darlingtonraceway or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS. Many fans and supporters of Darlington Raceway have already signed up for the event to give back and honor the tragedies and victims of 9-11, but openings are still available throughout the day from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Walk-up donations will still be accepted on the day of the drive.
