Lesa France Kennedy to be Honored by National Women’s History Museum

On Saturday, August 23, 2014, the National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) and its Los Angeles Regional Council, will host a private brunch at 11:45 a.m. PT at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles – Women Making History – to honor the achievements of three notable women including Lesa France Kennedy, ISC CEO and NASCAR Board Member. The event will honor female philanthropists and activists who contribute to women’s history while creating awareness to advance NWHM’s mission and build a world-class museum in Washington, D.C.

    Darlington Raceway Collects 380 Units Of Blood For Pee Dee Region American Red Cross In 2013

    Race fans and community members joined Darlington Raceway on Patriots Day for the eighth annual 9/11 Darlington Raceway Blood Drive. A total of 183 units of blood were collected on Wednesday. Combined with the 197 units of blood collected during Darlington Raceway’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend in May, the track Too Tough To Tame has collected 380 units of blood for the Pee Dee chapter of the American Red Cross. With each unit having the ability to help up to three patients in need, Darlington Raceway’s efforts will help approximately 1,140 people in our community.

    Darlington Raceway Recognized By NASCAR Green For Environmental Contributions

    Darlington Raceway was among seven International Speedway Corp. (ISC) facilities recognized by NASCAR Green for its environmental initiatives today. The track Too Tough To Tame was honored at the 2013 NASCAR Green Summit with the Track Operator Award for its efforts in partnering with Clemson University to plant switchgrass on the speedway property for future use in the production of bio-fuels.

    Darlington Raceway To Host First Darlington Marathon On Sept. 28

    Another form of racing will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, as Darlington Raceway will serve as the start line and finish line for the inaugural Darlington Marathon.
