Darlington Raceway will host its ninth annual Blood Drive event on Thursday, September 11. The Darlington Raceway Blood Drive has experienced tremendous success over the years. It’s important to remember that one unit of donated blood can be transfused to up to three people. The 2013 event collected 183 units of blood, thus potentially saving the lives of 549 people.

    Darlington Raceway Collects 380 Units Of Blood For Pee Dee Region American Red Cross In 2013

    Race fans and community members joined Darlington Raceway on Patriots Day for the eighth annual 9/11 Darlington Raceway Blood Drive. A total of 183 units of blood were collected on Wednesday. Combined with the 197 units of blood collected during Darlington Raceway’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend in May, the track Too Tough To Tame has collected 380 units of blood for the Pee Dee chapter of the American Red Cross. With each unit having the ability to help up to three patients in need, Darlington Raceway’s efforts will help approximately 1,140 people in our community.

    Darlington Raceway Recognized By NASCAR Green For Environmental Contributions

    Darlington Raceway was among seven International Speedway Corp. (ISC) facilities recognized by NASCAR Green for its environmental initiatives today. The track Too Tough To Tame was honored at the 2013 NASCAR Green Summit with the Track Operator Award for its efforts in partnering with Clemson University to plant switchgrass on the speedway property for future use in the production of bio-fuels.

    Another form of racing will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, as Darlington Raceway will serve as the start line and finish line for the inaugural Darlington Marathon.

    Chip Wile Named President of Darlington Raceway

    International Speedway Corporation ("ISC") today announced that it has named Chip Wile as President of Darlington Raceway (“DAR”) effective immediately. Wile accepts the role from his most recent position as Director of Business Development for the Motor Racing Network (“MRN”). Current DAR President, Chris Browning, has resigned to pursue other career opportunities.
