KEVIN HARVICK WINS NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES BOJANGLES’ SOUTHERN 500 AT DARLINGTON RACEWAY

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing, recorded his first career win at Darlington Raceway after a thrilling finish in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 on Saturday night. Harvick, who led a race-high 238 laps, had the one of the strongest cars in the field all night. After losing the lead on a pit road after a late caution, Harvick charged to the front in the final 10 laps. With the help of two attempts at a green-white checkered finish, Harvick managed to pass Dale Earnhardt Jr. to secure his first win at Darlington in his 18th career start at the track.

    The week of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500, April 6-13, 2014, has been named “Darlington Raceway Week, a Week Too Tough To Tame” after the South Carolina Senate and House of Representatives passed a concurrent Resolution. The famed track’s 65-year history is a major reason that the South Carolina Senate and House of Representatives passed the concurrent Resolution, led by state Senator Gerald Malloy, D-Hartsville.

    DARLINGTON RACEWAY PARTNERS WITH FRANCIS MARION BASEBALL FOR RACE NIGHT ON TUESDAY, MARCH 25

    Darlington Raceway and Francis Marion University athletic officials have announced the Patriot baseball team will host Darlington Raceway Night on Tuesday, March 25, when FMU battles North Carolina rival Barton College. First-pitch for the game will be at 7 p.m. on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. FMU students will be admitted free with identification and appropriate Swamp Fox Club passes will be honored.
