KEVIN HARVICK WINS NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES BOJANGLES’ SOUTHERN 500 AT DARLINGTON RACEWAY

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing, recorded his first career win at Darlington Raceway after a thrilling finish in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 on Saturday night. Harvick, who led a race-high 238 laps, had the one of the strongest cars in the field all night. After losing the lead on a pit road after a late caution, Harvick charged to the front in the final 10 laps. With the help of two attempts at a green-white checkered finish, Harvick managed to pass Dale Earnhardt Jr. to secure his first win at Darlington in his 18th career start at the track.

Voting will conclude on Wednesday, Dec. 11, with the winner being announced in mid-January (exact date TBD).

    SOUTH CAROLINA OR CLEMSON? FANS DECIDE WHO WINS DURING DARLINGTON RACEWAY’S CAN FOOD DRIVE

    In the spirit of giving back for the holiday season, Darlington Raceway is launching a can food drive that will take place from Nov. 8-22, 2013, with proceeds benefiting Harvest Hope of the Pee Dee and The Lord Cares of Darlington. The event kicks off on Friday, Nov. 8 at the track’s first annual Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show presented by Piggly Wiggly. Between the hours of 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., fans that bring either five non-perishable food items or make a $10 cash donation will receive laps around the track Too Tough To Tame. On Saturday, Nov. 9, the same program will commence from 8 a.m. – Noon.

    Darlington Raceway’s inaugural Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show presented by Piggly Wiggly continues to build a solid lineup for next Friday and Saturday’s free event at the track Too Tough to Tame. The latest additions will include a merchandise display from the hit TV show Lizard Lick Towing, an M1A1 Abrams tank, courtesy of the South Carolina Army National Guard, and a Saturday afternoon concert performed by the John Curtis Lewis Band.
