Stroll Down Memory Lane
Fans attending events at Darlington Raceway can take a stroll down memory lane and recount some of the greatest moments in famed track’s history by visiting the Darlington Legends Walk.
Located behind the Wallace and Tyler grandstands, the Darlington Legends Walk is made up of monuments reminiscent of a Goodyear racing tire and old-style pit board. These are no ordinary tires and pit boards though, each statue weighs in at nearly 3,000 pounds. The tires are constructed of solid granite and each pit board is a solid marble slab.
Currently there are six monuments with plans to add addition monuments each year. The monuments currently on display include:
-Track founder, Harold Brasington
-South Carolina native, David Pearson
-South Carolina native, Cale Yarborough
-Bill Elliott’s 1985 Winston Million victory
-NASCAR legend, Darrell Waltrip
-The closest finish in NASCAR history between Ricky Craven and Kurt Busch
