DARLINGTON, S.C. (Nov. 22, 2013) – Due to the overwhelming generosity of its local community, Darlington Raceway collected thousands of food items and cash donations during its two-week long can food drive. The drive collected over 3,000 non-perishable items and over $1,100 in monetary donations. The food and monies will benefit two local food pantries, The Lord Cares of Darlington and Harvest Hope of the Pee Dee.

With the SHOWTIME Southern 500 weekend just a few weeks away everyone in the Darlington community is gearing up for a massive influx of people from around the country. The arrival of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina means a big economic impact on the entire area. A 2009 study estimated the annual economic impact of Darlington Raceway at $54 million across the state.

Darlington Raceway Set To Host 'A Taste of Darlington' Tomorrow Night

A Taste of Darlington will return to Darlington Raceway on Thursday evening, April 19 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage area. The annual culinary event benefits the Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association (DDRA) and features some of the best cooks in the Darlington area. The event is usually attended by 500-700 local community members that enjoy great food and beverage at the annual festivities.

Darlington Raceway will celebrate the start of the 2015 NASCAR season by hosting its fourth annual community watch party during the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Buffalo Wild Wings in Florence, S.C. The event will start at noon and continue until the conclusion of the Great American Race, which will be broadcast live on FOX. The race will also be broadcast on MRN and locally on WEGX Eagle 92.9 FM.
