Get Up Close and Personal With USAC Pit Passes

New Page 3

One thing that sets racing apart from other sporting events is the "personal touch". Thanks to fan and hospitality zones and behind-the-scenes promotions, fans are consistently able to enhance their race day experiences by interacting with racing's athletes before watching them compete on the track.

Fans attending the USAC Silver Crown Showdown at Darlington Raceway on Thursday, May 10 can experience that personal touch to an even greater degree. Track officials have announced that pit passes for the event are available to the general public.

The difference between USAC Silver Crown Series pit passes and ordinary pit passes can be summed up in one word - access. The pit and garage areas for the Silver Crown Series will be set up on Darlington's frontstretch pit road area, and fans will literally be close enough to reach out and touch the cars and listen to the interaction between drivers and crews as they prepare for the race.

USAC pit passes are $5 per person and are available by calling the Raceway ticket hotline at 866.459.RACE (7223). Pit passes will also be available at the gate.

Dress code for the USAC pit area is:  Shirts and shoes are required. No open-toed shoes such as flip-flops are permitted, and shirts must have sleeves; no tank tops. Shorts are permissible. The pit area will be open until one hour before the start of the event. Scheduled race time is 8 p.m.

Fans must be at least 18 years of age to enter the USAC pits.

The 2007 Dodge Avenger 500 weekend at Darlington Raceway will include practice for the USAC Silver Crown Series and the NASCAR Busch Series on Thursday, May 10, followed by USAC qualifying and the "Silver Crown Showdown at Darlington" under the lights. Tickets are priced at only $10 each; kids 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes are available for $5.

Friday, May 11, will include NASCAR NEXTEL Cup practice, and NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series qualifying, followed by the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 NASCAR Busch Series race under the lights that evening. Denny Hamlin is the defending champion.

On Saturday, May 12, Darlington will host Cup Series racing for the 58th consecutive season as Greg Biffle attempts to join the short list of drivers to win three events in a row at NASCAR's most historic venue. The 2007 Dodge Avenger 500 will be run under the lights in its entirety.
