USAC Not Returning to Darlington Raceway in 2008
The USAC Silver Crown Series will not return to Darlington Raceway in 2008, USAC officials have announced. “Our participants and fans deserve the very best entertainment package we can provide,” said USAC President/CEO Kevin Miller. “I want to express my deepest appreciation to Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, its management and staff, for their commitment to this series but am the first to recognize that we need to give them the kind of racing event of which we can both be proud. Despite our delight at the event we conducted there in 2007, our direction will not permit a race at Darlington in 2008 but we are focused on maintaining the great relationship we have developed with that storied facility and we plan on returning with an enhanced product in the near future.” Race fans who have purchased tickets to the previously scheduled May 8, 2008 USAC race at Darlington Raceway can have their money refunded or exchange their USAC ticket for a ticket to the practice sessions scheduled for May 8. Don’t miss your chance to see Jeff Burton and the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as they take on the track “Too Tough to Tame” in the Dodge Challenger 500 on May 10, 2008. The racing action kicks off with the NASCAR Nationwide Series Diamond Hill Plywood 200 on May 9th.
