DARLINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA (August 11, 2016) – As the excitement builds for Darlington Raceway’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 throwback weekend, fans have the opportunity to make their favorite NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver a “Best in Show” qualifier before the race even begins.

Starting today, Aug. 11, until Sept. 1, fans can visit and vote for their favorite special paint scheme that will race in the 67th running of the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

With over 25 paint schemes currently featured on during the vote, fans may vote once each day to determine who has the best paint scheme, many of which honor the history and heritage of the sport.

When voting closes Sept. 1, the top five vote-getters will be presented to a panel of NASCAR Hall of Fame members. The Hall of Famers will then select the “Best in Show” winner of the contest with the driver being honored during Bojangles’ Southern 500 pre-race ceremonies.

“This is great opportunity for fans to visit and vote for their favorite paint scheme for the Bojangles’ Southern 500,” track President Kerry Tharp said. “We are extremely appreciative to the teams for the time, thought and effort they have put into these paint schemes, which truly honor the history of the sport.”

In all, over 35 paint schemes are featured on cars for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 with some still to be announced in the next few weeks.

Drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Tony Stewart, among others, have embraced Darlington’s throwback weekend and the opportunity to run a tribute paint scheme during the event.

Stewart’s paint scheme, unveiled Aug. 3, will be a special tribute car to his longtime partner Coca-Cola and NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison.

“The throwback weekend Darlington has created makes it the perfect place to run a scheme that has a ton of history with Bobby Allison and Coca-Cola,” Stewart said that day. “This is definitely one of my favorite paint schemes.”

The Tradition Continues on Labor Day weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500® is set for Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016. The NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 will race on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. Tickets are still available for all events.
