Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR moves to April 5-6, while the Track Too Tough to Tame returns to NASCAR Playoffs on Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 30-31

DARLINGTON, S.C. (Aug. 29, 2024) – NASCAR announced today that Darlington Raceway will host to two NASCAR race weekends for the fifth straight year, April 5-6 and Aug. 30-31, 2025.

In the spring, the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR will return to Darlington beginning with the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday, April 5, followed by the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series in the Goodyear 400 on Sunday, April 6.

The Lady in Black will notably return to its regular place in the Cup Series playoff schedule, as the Cook Out Southern 500 will once again act as the opening race for the Round of 16 on Sunday, Aug. 31. Drivers beginning their quest for the coveted Bill France Cup will have to overcome both their competitors and the racetrack itself in hopes of coming out victorious in this crown jewel event. That weekend will also feature the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series playoff opener on Saturday, Aug. 30, placing high stakes on the entire Labor Day Weekend slate.

“It’s a tremendous honor to have NASCAR return to the track Too Tough to Tame for two race weekends in 2025,” said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris. “We take pride in being one of the most historic and challenging venues in all of stock car racing, so being able to put on two amazing weekends at this national treasure is truly special.”

Tickets for next season will go on sale at a later date, but limited tickets remain for this weekend’s historic 75th annual Cook Out Southern 500 weekend at Darlington Raceway. It begins at 3:30 p.m. Saturday with the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200. Then at 6 p.m., Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series stars will battle to secure their spot in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs with the Cook Out Southern 500, the final race of the 2024 regular season.
